Eighteen-year-old Wolfgang has just passed his A-levels and still has a few months to go before he has to start his military service. Instead of sitting around lazily, he wants to experience something during this time before the serious side of life begins. Wolfgang decides to hitchhike to Poland. There he makes friends with a group of young mountaineers, and Wolfgang's last period of complete freedom begins.

During the summer, Irene mourns the loss of the man she loved. Around her, Claire, a young actress, and Victoria, a young doctor, wonder about their vocation. In the fall, Claire meets Juliette. Without knowing it, the two women fall for the same man. In winter, Irene visits Victoria who is replacing a doctor in the mountains.

Four young people from Berlin decide to spend their summer in Portugal. They throw away their smart phones, open up their relationships and try to free themselves from any social norms. But just as their utopia comes true, a devastating forest fire breaks out around them.
